SOLAR THERMAL
How it works:
After installing your solar thermal system fluid in the panels collects heat from the sun and then passes this heat into a special hot water cylinder where it is stored, therefore heating your hot water for use in your home. Your boiler will only switch on when the heat generated by your solar panels is not enough to heat your hot water cylinder, ie on a cloudy day. The system is controlled automatically via a system controller for optimum performance and regulates the boiler as well as the solar system, saving you money.
Renewable Heat Incentive
The Government has now launched the Renewable Heat Incentive. This will involve an annual payment to households who have had an accredited approved technology installed on their property.
Approved technologies currently include: solid and gaseous biomass, solar thermal, ground and water source
heat-pumps, on-site biogas, deep geothermal, energy from waste and injection of biomethane into the grid.
The annual payments are expected to be in the region of £350 per year.
What systems qualify?
To receive the feed in tariff the Installer and solar thermal panels have to be approved by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). NRG 8 Ltd are fully accredited with the MCS scheme and will register your system with the scheme free of charge.
